Stepparents
For
Harris
Why We're Here
Kamala Harris is a stepmother -- though she and her family adorably prefer the term "Momala". She and her husband Doug Emhoff have two wonderful kids, and a loving co-parenting arrangement with their mother. Both kids are now full grown. Kamala Harris continues to support them as any good parent should. Even in the midst of her whirlwind July, Doug shared an anecdote of how Kamala still devoted time to help her stepdaughter.
There are some who treat Harris negatively for not having biological children. For not being a "real" mom. We've all heard words like those before. Attacks like those before. But as stepparents, we know that while we may have an extra four letters in front of our title, we are still parents.
And we love and are devoted to our stepchildren. Because they are our children.
As stepparents, we also know what it means to take on responsibility. To have someone trust us with something precious beyond measure. For Kamala Harris to choose that role, and for Doug to trust her with that role, says an absolutely enormous amount about her character.
It's the type of character who is perfect for the role of President of the United States.
